Amicus Brief on States’ Human Rights Obligations as Shaped by the Paris Agreement and Victim Status for Particular Groups like the Elderly in Climate Cases
CLX – in collaboration with Professor Christina Voigt and the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice – submitted an intervention in Swiss Senior Women v. Switzerland, a case before the European Court of Human Rights. In their submission they argued that elderly persons should be considered victims of climate change, even though climate change effects everyone. They also explained how countries’ human rights obligations interact with provisions of the Paris Agreement to require swift action from developed countries on bringing emissions to net zero.
